Ferndale Area School District is pleased to announce the implementation of the HALT! Bullying Prevention Program in 7th & 8th Grade. The HALT! Bullying Prevention Program is part of the Highmark Healthy High 5, $100 million initiative aimed at providing awareness and resources related to five topics critical to the health and well-being of children. Those topics are physical activity, nutrition, self-esteem, grieving and bullying.
HALT! Is based on the nationally recognized, evidenced-based Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP). The OBPP aims to help decrease bullying behaviors, enhance effectiveness of intervention efforts school-wide and improve response and reaction to bullying in the school environment. The OBPP is not a curriculum, but a program that deals with bullying at the school, classroom, individual and community levels.
