FASD Update March 23, 2020
Yesterday, Governor Wolf extended the school closure due to the Coronavirus outbreak through April 6, 2020.
The school closure may/may not be extended after that, depending on how fast cases of the Coronavirus are spreading across Pennsylvania.
There is legislation that will be voted on tomorrow (March 25) to make changes to the PA School Code to address all items that need changed legally to provide education to students and ensure a free and appropriate education in an alternative way during that time. This will permit FASD to plan and implement education for your children while they are at home during the closure.
FASD will begin to provide education to student through alternative methods under the parameters that will be set through changes to the PA School Code mentioned above. There is not a start date set for this continuity of education and planned instruction. I will keep you informed along the way through posts to the district website, facebook, and twitter. When necessary, you will receive a OneCall Now phone message from me.
Note: Grab-and-Go breakfast/lunch bags will continue to be delivered Monday through Friday during this time. Students involved in the Backpack Program will continue to receive their BackPacks on Fridays with their Grab-and Go bag. Soon, we will also make free books available to our Elementary age students along with the Grab-and-Go bags to provide interesting reading material for our young ones during their time at home.
Thank you for your support and your patience.
Be healthy and practice safe social distancing.
Stay tuned for additional updates......
