Hello and Welcome to my teacher page,
My name is Daniel Burket and I am the computer instructor, and member of the unified arts department at Ferndale Area Elementary . I would like to share a little information about my educational background, life experiences, and career. I was born in Portage and still live in the same house that I was raised in almost sixty years ago. I have always enjoyed living in a small town environment even though the town has changed a great deal since I was in elementary school. I graduated from Portage Area School District in 1977 and spent several years working in many different jobs before I entered the University of Pittsburgh In 1992 I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. I spent the next several years working as a substitute teacher for several local school districts In 1997 i was accepted into the Library Science department at Clarion University and in June of 1999 I graduated with a Masters Degree in Library Science. During this time period I met Ms. Jean Grow who was the Librarian at Ferndale Area Jr/Sr. High school. Ms Grow retired at the end of the 1999 school year and I was hired in the fall. I served as Librarian in the Jr/Sr High School for sixteen years. For the last four years I have been teaching computer science to students at The Ferndale Area Elementary School. My time at Ferndale Area has been extremely rewarding. I have been fortunate to work in a job that I love, with people who care about children and the community. If you have any questions please fill free to call me anytime.
