Welcome to My Page
As principal of the Ferndale Area Elementary School, I believe that it is important for our stakeholders to know my background and my vision for our school. The following is to help you to get to know me as I work for you and with you during my time as an administrator.
I am a 1985 graduate of Ferndale Area School District. I was very active in our school and enjoyed the experiences that I had as a student. In 1989, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I worked for several years in the area of social work as a caseworker in foster care and adoption. I was also a case manager in an after school treatment program for children with mental disorders.
In 2003, I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I was honored as a College Scholar and graduated Summa Cum Laude. In 2004, I was hired by Ferndale Area Elementary as a teacher’s aide for the new K4 program. Within a year, I became a kindergarten teacher, and then was fortunate to experience teaching first and fourth grades.
In 2013, I completed the Master’s Program in K-12 Administration and Leadership. I was hired as principal in 2015 and look forward to many years as an administrator for our district. I truly have “Pride in the Hive.”
My vision for our elementary school is this: To offer the best education to every student that becomes a Yellow Jacket. Through hard work, diligence, collaboration and qualified teachers, we offer our students the opportunity to become successful and to fulfill their dreams.
