Her favorite memories are time spent with Mrs. G aviola and her Spanish class which included many of her friends. She loved getting dressed up and spending an evening on the Gateway Clipper and going out to try Mexican cuisine and ordering, what felt like, one of everything off the menu.
When asked what she will miss about Ferndale, McKinley shared "I moved to Ferndale in seventh grade and watched all of the students have such a close relationship with each other. As I’ve grown closer with everyone, I can say I no longer feel like an outsider. Ferndale turned into my home. I grew into an adult here. Everyone was so welcoming and great here; I’m really going to miss the sense of community here. I love it though and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to meet all of my amazing friends, teachers and anyone I come in contact with in Ferndale".
McKinley's advice for Ferndale students is to "please start learning to not procrastinate. It'll end up really messing with your academics. Also, go get help from Mrs. Dodson when it comes to college information. Get your FAFSA done on time! Just because you don't know what to do, doesn't mean and adult doesn't either. Don't be afraid to ask for advice!"
